Creating a private Cloud? The steps to follow

Cloud technology is achieving new milestones in the arena of modern technology. Cloud service providers are playing a major role in this scenario. Several questions emerge when you plan to create a private cloud. First thing is that whether you actually require your own private cloud system or you can just continue with the public cloud system. First of all, you require a team of professionals to set up the whole infrastructure. They decide the right platform to set up the network. Some other important factors to consider in this respect are the security of the network, the capacity of storage, (SLA) service-level agreements, various disaster recovery procedures and the location of the facility.

One of the major IT buzz in the recent few years is cloud computing or cloud data storage. If you have any relation to IT business, you have listened to this word more or less. Company owners, business individuals, entrepreneurs and even the individual consumers are talking about this term. The question is how to create a private cloud system? Let us discuss in details about all the necessary requirements in this context.

SAN is the major form in which data is stored in the private cloud system. You get several benefits when you create a private cloud system like the better regulation of customers and smooth management of the data. In private cloud system, you can easily configure all the factors of virtual server through the hypervisor interface. There is also the availability of features like snap shots and clustering for the failure. You can get the data recovery system and be adding or removal of the consumer features also.

Another very important thing to remember when you are planning to create a private cloud system, you must install 2X Remote Application Server. It is basically a very strong tool to help people to get connected to the main server from anywhere. It also provides the compatibility of several systems like PC, IOS, Linux, MAC, and Android. So, whatever the customer is using, he gets access to the network.

A study sponsored by Cisco and done by IDC indicates that the there is a second wave of migrating to the cloud that is on its way. However, despite that being good news for all involved, the problem is that most of the clouds are not fully optimized. That means that they are not operating at their peak. It does not matter whether it is a hybrid, private or public cloud, what is clear is the fact that many companies are moving to the cloud. However, 99% percent do not have a proper strategy to will help them to utilize the cloud resources at the maximum level. The people interviewed in the study were from seventeen different countries and their represented countries that were either using public, private or hybrid clouds in their IT departments. Another reason why you should know how to create a private cloud yourself.
While the study showed that 99% of these companies are not using the cloud resources at the optimum level, the main idea that the study showed was that a second wave of migrating to the cloud is imminent. The purpose of second wave migrating is that businesses are adopting the cloud computing technology in order to drive business outcomes. The only problem is that nobody has any clear idea how to actually get there safely and intact.

The study showed that 32% of the companies did not have any real strategy in place which can be used when the time to adopt the cloud comes. 32% had ad-hoc tools which implied that the tools in place are used when required. 11% of the companies were just opportunistic and they counted on the luck for the proper adoption of the cloud while 16% had a repeatable strategy and 8% had a managed strategy. Only just 1% had a really optimized cloud strategy. The study also revealed that the reason behind cloud adoption included efficiency, cost reduction, ability to meet surface level agreements or SLAs with customers.

For several years, there are been a notion that the cloud is less secure than traditional IT methods of computing. The belief is fueled by the fact that most people who believe in the traditional means of data storage belief that accessibility is less important compared to the location of the data. These people who still prefer the traditional IT methods are slowly losing the war on the security of the cloud. This is because of the fact that many people are slowly realizing that the cloud has proved its worth. Despite that fact, there are still many concerns that are associated with privacy and security of the cloud. Therefore this article will address the issue by answering the question that many people ask themselves. Is the cloud secure?

When addressing the issue of cloud security, one cannot evade the politics and emotions associated with such an argument. Many people and organizations that have used the cloud for some time can attest to the fact that the cloud is more secure compared to traditional systems. According to a report released by Alert Logic’s fall 2012 concerning the state of cloud security, most of the people who believe that the cloud is less secure base their arguments on the physical location of the data. It is worth noting that anything that can be accessed whether it is an enterprise or a cloud, it can be attacked in one way or another.

The report showed that web applications suffered the most attack. About 53% of the attacks were targeted to organizations that were cloud users. 44% of the attacks were targeted at organizations that use traditional IT systems. Despite the cloud attacks being higher, it is worth noting that organizations using traditional IT systems were more prone to those attacks compared to organizations that used cloud services. The myth that cloud computing is less secure is based on the idea that the data is stored in systems and servers that the client does not own and has no control over those systems.
