Nokia is very keen in promoting its nascent cloud services
for Telco that it is offering. This is barely three months after Nokia launched
its AirFrame
data center. This is according to a report by Telecoms.com. The AirFrame is available as a containerized
cloud solution that has an in built cooling system and power. The company also
added a software defined storage module to the AirFrame. The data center is
supported by a package from cloud Care Services. The package has management
module for resolving VNF faults and support package for VMWare deployment. The
AirFrame data center is also promoting OOS for Telco cloud offering. When all
of this is brought together, the whole project seems like it is more of a
strategic consultation tune-up than a physical entity.
The whole thing has been brought together by something that
Nokia is referring to as Service Chaining. Service Chaining is just a term for
virtualized setting for dispensing a variety of network services. Nokia has
come up with a new form of cloud solutions. They have started the journey that
can see the world of cloud computing changing. The extensive and open cloud
portfolio ensures that operators have assistance when making important
decisions when selecting the most important services, efficient processes and
solutions from corner to corner of all domains.
The Nokia Telco cloud will help operators in achieving the
maximum benefits that one can enjoy from IT convergence and Telco. The Nokia
Telco cloud is a business cloud type of cloud. The introduction of that cloud
has played a great role in strengthening Nokia’s ground as a major player in
the field of cloud service providers. It has also ensured that Nokia is a full
time cloud
service provider in the mobile sector. Although it has taken a while for
Nokia to catch up since most of their competitors have already established
their presence in this area, it is a step in the right direction.
Alcatel and
Google have announced that they will upgrade the content delivery network
in for their cloud services. The announcement hah just highlighted the
importance of content delivery networks or CDNs. The purpose of the upgrades to ensure that
content delivery is quick without latency or lag. Google’s cloud platform is
have more speed as the gigantic search engine company wants to add four more
content delivery networks. The additional networks include Level 3
communications, Highwinds Network, Fastly and CloudFlare are the four content
delivery networks that are going to be added to Google’s network of 70 points
of presence in 33 countries. This makes up the Google’s new content delivery
network Interconnect program which is within the Google cloud Interconnect
line.
The purpose of the improvements is to ensure that content
delivery network customers will pay less when moving data between Google cloud
platform and the content delivery network. The additions according to Google
cloud platform will ensure that speed of delivering rich media workloads from
Google cloud platform to end user devices will increase. The mobile and web
applications that are being developed nowadays are capable
of carrying a lot of media assets which was the reason why Google had to
increase the speed of their CDN. In November, 2014, the cloud provider launched
the Google Carrier Interconnect in order to link enterprise clients with Google
cloud.
On the other hand, Alcatel_lucent has also made an upgrade
in order to boost its cloud based IP video storage and CDNs. The improvements
have seen a new cloud DVR platform being installed and a new elastic CDN being
put in place. This is in line with helping clients to dynamically manage the
network capacity as more and more clients demand more resources. The cloud DVR
platform has new features that ensure that clients will have access to more
storage features when using the cloud services from Alcatel-Lucent. This has
been made possible by incorporating help from Intel which uses Intelligent
Storage Acceleration Library.
Cisco has taking cloud computing a step further through the
creation of intercloud. Through a project named intercloud initiative, Cisco
seeks to create a new form of cloud by connecting several clouds. The
intercloud will be a kind of a massive hybrid cloud that will be a part of a
larger network that can be accessed from any where at any time. During the
annual Cisco Live, the intercloud initiative was overtaken by the concept of
Internet of Everything. However, development of the cloud is important for
Cisco since the intercloud will be a part of the technology that will be used
when developing the connections, collecting data and processing data.
Cisco has also gone a step further and added 35 more members
to the team that has been tasked with building the cloud. These members will
help in developing the cloud the cloud on three stages. These three stages are
plat form development of next generation analytics, big data and cloud services
for the Internet of Everything. The company has also ensured that they have
updated the security features of its Cisco Intercloud Fabric. The innovations
that have been included in this super cloud have ensured that the complexity
that is associated with hybrid clouds is eliminated. This will enable
flexibility in moving workloads as well as implementing proper security
policies in the network environments through private and public cloud.
Cisco together with its partners is in the process of
offering organizations cloud services and next generation applications through
a platform referred to as Cisco Intercloud Marketplace. This is a global market
that Cisco is planning to open this fall. Through this cloud platform,
developer will have the right environment to create, test and dispense
applications in production. Cisco is set to deploy the cloud platform together
with other companies and some of the business applications that they have
developed and dispensed include Active State, Apprenda and Docker. This is in
line with Cisco’s expansion into the open source markets where services like
OpenShift and Cloud Foundry are being offered. The company is now seeking to
build an integrated suite that developers will use in order to create
micro-container based services apparatus.
